They say life is what you make it. Back in 2011, we chose to make it easier for citizens worldwide by reflecting on how to build a smart society for innovative and sustainable cities. We needed smart thinking, so we pushed forward on how to build better places to live, and how to change the world in doing so.
Now, here’s the thing: with 55% of the population living in urban areas and climate emergency declarations issued by hundreds of councils and jurisdictions worldwide, cities need to lead the way in maximizing nature’s value, bridging the multidimensional inequality gap and supporting a gas-free future. We are what we make, and so are cities. We build cities, but cities build us too.
